UPDATE  .... HELP PLEASE .... "print spooler services not running"
unable to map a networkprinter printer, receive an error ["print spooler services not running"). I have stopped and started print spooler services, checked the dependencies ... reinatalled printer drivers but I still receive the error. Locally, the user can use his printer which is directly connected to his pc, but no one else can see map to it. When I select properties for this printer from the server I receive the same error message "properties cannot be displayed -- print spooler services not running". I then Check services and it shoew that services are started and dependencies are also started. I have tried stop and restart from both the server and the local machine still unable to map any other machine or see properties on the server. Please help

Hi, I have a little bit of trouble following your scenario. Correct me if I am wrong, you have an IP printer which when connected via USB to a computer prints fine but when connected to the network, does not printer and fails with the print spooler error? Have you tried sharing out the printer (enable printer sharing in Vista) and try to map the printer using \\computername\printername ? Also ensure that on the host printer (if its a shared printer and not a network printer) that you have sufficient rights to controls jobs and the printer in the security tab of the printer.

I am having a problem keeping my print spooler running. I can't install any printers and the one that was installed does not show up. Can someone give me an answer to this problem.

Does your print spooler fail? Have you tried restarting the print spooler? In the recovery section of the print spooler service, have you tried setting it to restart? Also can you give us some more info about your problem?

I am having the same issue on XP. The printers are there if you try to view properties you cannot "print spooler not running" even though it is. No errors in event viewer, no viruses detected.???
